The Hellenic Heritage Museum of Maryland continues to build its repository of objects, documents, photographs, books, records, textiles, jewelry, instruments and other items that embody the fabric of our culture as it has developed in this time and in this place. The museum is enormously appreciative for all the generous contributions from community members and would like to highlight two recently acquired collections that have enabled us to expand the diversity of our exhibits. One is from the late Evelyn Karas, who left the museum her collection of nearly 70 authentically costumed dolls from various regions of Greece that she painstakingly acquired through her career as an educator. The second is from the late Sen. Paul S. Sarbanes, whose family donated many Hellenic-related artifacts and volumes from his personal library prior to his death. HHMM is grateful for the confidence in the museum expressed by this donation and takes great pride in being able to showcase many of the awards and accolades presented to him over his 30 years in the U.S. Senate and three prior House terms where he emerged as a prominent advocate for Greece and Hellenic values.
